Born in the county of Middlesex, London UK. Educated at The London Art Institute - Central School of Art and Design, West Ham College of Art and Design both in London and at the University of Central England in Birmingham. In 1981, Professor Hissey took part in a Fulbright International faculty exchange program at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Some four years later, he joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma School of Art. Throughout this time, he has continued his design career and is presently a partner in a design group called Square Mile Design.
