V'Lou Oliveira oversees the ceramic sculpture program and has done so since she came to the University of Oklahoma in the '70's. An artist in residence with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, her work was selected for the Young Americans Clay and Glass at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City, which toured the United States and was accompanied by a catalog. She has done numerous installations, including New Jersey, the Garden State at individual Artists of Oklahoma in 1992. The red clay she now uses in her large vessels (perhaps an Oklahoma influence), illuminates the colorful glazes in her zany, sophisticated artistic statements.
