Visitors to the resource center at the Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West have access to our ever-growing collection of books, manuscripts, theses and dissertations, periodicals and journals, artist files, and slides on western American art (19th-21st centuries). Searchable computer databases assist patrons in their research. The resource center also houses special collections relating to artists Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington, Charles Schreyvogel, Thomas Moran, and Joe Taylor. The Center displays a few original artworks by historic and contemporary western artists and is home to more than 100 early prints of paintings by Charles M. Russell.
In partnership with the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, the Russell Center is compiling a catalogue raisonné on artist Charles M. Russell. This ongoing project includes information on all of the artist's known oil and watercolor paintings, illustrated letters, pen and ink drawings and original models.
